God loves you! He has always loved you. Just the way you are, no matter where you come from; what you believe about Him; in whatever season of life you find yourself in; what you have done in your life; or whether you run away from Him!
God created you in His image and has great plans for you! You are valued, beautiful, respected, loved and accepted! That’s how God sees us!
Unfortunately, in this world, sin exists. Sin is to “miss the mark”, so basically sin is an action that is in conflict with God´s desire/intention. God does not accept sin because He is holy and sinless. Sin is nothing else than breaking God`s boundaries. He has the best and greatest boundaries because He is holy! When we enter this world, we are automatically disconnected from God because of sin; every human falls short of the glory and favor of God. Luckily, it’s no problem for God, to resolve this issue. Many years ago, because God loves you so much, He came to this earth as a human called Jesus. Jesus wasn`t just God in flesh but Jesus was Grace in person! That means, Jesus took the heavy burden to be sacrificed as a ransom for all of humanity’s sins, those that were done in the past, in the present and that will be done in the future!
It says in John 3:16-17:
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.“ (NLT)
Because of our sins, we are God’s enemies, yet God, because He loves us so much, sent Jesus as a ransom. Not to judge us but to redeem us from the devil`s grip. This means, we have the opportunity to be re-connected and reconciled with God through Jesus. We can be free from condemnation, guilt, shame and from ALL our sins! We can live in forgiveness, freedom, redemption and have the full assurance that we will be with God for eternity!
What we cannot do or achieve, Jesus has done for us on the cross. Now it´s up to us, to accept Him as our Lord and Saviour!
Salvation is a free gift from God but we need to make the decision as to whether we accept this gift or not.
When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior – saying it with our mouth and believing it in our heart – we are being re-connected with God, the creator of the whole universe! But not just that, we also have access to all the heavenly realms God possesses; and all things in life such as pain, suffering, disappointment, hardship, addiction, sickness (and various more) will work together for the good in our lives. God takes all the broken pieces in our life and brings restoration, purification and sanctification to all the bad stuff in us. His salvation brings the most profound internal satisfaction a human being can imagine or experience!
Following Jesus doesn’t mean that life becomes “easier” or that problems will just disappear. But, it does mean that life becomes purposeful, full of hope, love, joy and peace. When we love Jesus, His spirit will transform us to become obedient towards Him.
Following Jesus isn`t about what we can or cannot do. There is nothing we can do to gain salvation, but by accepting the gift of salvation through Jesus, we are being transformed so that somehow within us this deep desire of doing good is ignited.
How do I follow Jesus?
- Understand that your life is full of sin.
We all are sinners. We don’t choose this, it`s the way we enter this world. God`s original plan when He created the universe and humankind, was for humanity to be in active relationship with Him. Even God created and reigned over the universe, He didn`t want to live alone. Unfortunately, the first humans did not keep the boundaries set by God, and so they committed the first sin. This led to a chasm, a spiritual disconnection, between humanity and God. Sin is the absence of God and it leads to destruction and death, as outlined in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.“
- Admit that you are in need of a Savior.
We all need someone to help us in life, we can`t do it by ourselves. It is the same with our salvation. Salvation is not earned through our efforts of trying to be perfect or keeping everything together! We don’t get far and sooner or later we fail to be perfect! We all do bad stuff in life, whether we want to or not.
God knew that we couldn’t come back to the relationship with him by ourselves, that`s why Jesus died as a ransom for us. The Bible says in Romans 5:8 “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.“
Jesus conquered death and rose again to life! This salvation plan is God`s answer for us as lost, broken and dying people.
- Confess your sins.
After realising that you are a sinner, in order to accept the free gift from God, you need to confess your sins. Confessing means saying something like: “I`m sorry God, I have done wrong”.
In Acts 3:19 it says: “Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.“ God doesn`t get angry when you turn to Him with all your sins. In fact, He loves that you bring Him all your sins so that you can step into His salvation plan.
- Receive God`s salvation.
Romans 10:9 states that whoever openly declares that Jesus is Lord and believes in his heart that God raised him from the dead, will be saved. Revelation 3:20 says: “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”
God`s salvation plan isn`t one way to God – it`s THE way to God!
Jesus says in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father (God) except through me.“
When you confess your sins with your mouth and believe with your heart that He raised Christ from the dead, you will receive the gift of salvation!
Ready to be re-connected with God? He will be your Father, Lord, Savior, Helper, Best Friend, Guide, Provider and Lover! Are you ready to receive this free gift from God?
If you want to receive this gift in faith and live a life in obedience to God, then just tell God so!
You can pray using your own words and express your own thoughts. But we as “Live Life to the Fullest“ team want to give you an example and be of help to you.
- God is crazy in love with you.
- God forgives all your sins.
- God has been longing after you since the day you were born.
Below is an example of a simple prayer, it`s an external prayer that brings internal changes in your soul, spirit and body.
Dear Jesus Christ, I admit that I need you. I need you as my Lord and Saviour because you`re the only one who can save me. I confess that I have done wrong towards you and others. Thank you for bearing my guilt upon the cross on my behalf. Please forgive me, cleanse me, and restore me, as I make you Lord and Savior of my life. Please help me to have faith in you. I want to receive this gift of salvation. I want to love and follow you! In your name, Jesus. Amen.
Congratulations and Well done!
