The never-ending arrival
I`ve already spent over 10500 days in this world so far. That`s a lot of days, and I hope there will be many more for my life but also for your life.
You personally might have more or fewer days lived in this world so far. Whether we have more or fewer days together, there is a mutual experience we can probably share with each other, and that`s the experience of the never-ending arrival!
What do I mean by that? From the first time we see the light of the world, we grow and change in many ways. It continues throughout our whole lives. There is growth and change that we specifically choose (conscious growth), and there is also growth and change that we are barely aware of (unconscious growth). But we often realise what’s happened when looking back over time.
Within conscious growth, there are lots of things we choose to grow and change in. Whether that`s in your job, study place, personal growth or even relational growth.
Many years ago I was addicted to smelling petrol. I loved the smell and when I did it too much I got really high. True story! Almost every time I filled up my small motorcycle with petrol, I needed that kick of smelling the petrol. It often didn`t take long until I was high and forgot everything around me. I knew at the time that it wasn’t the right thing to do and I was aware that it would probably damage my sinuses and brain if I did it for a long time.
This went on for about two or three years, until one day I realised that I didn’t need it anymore. All that desire was gone from one day to the next!
However, once I was free from this petrol drug or whatever we want to call it, I realised that even though I had arrived where I wanted to be with that thing, another journey of another habit or addiction would come along that I then wanted to get rid of!
I don`t know what kind of life season you`re in right now, but have you ever experienced the never-ending arrival – when you felt like you reached the growth and change level that you wanted to, but then you realised there is another level to get to
This is something exciting but also frustrating at times! I have learned to take whatever growth and change season I`m in with eager expectation. And enjoy the journey even when it hurts sometimes to see that I`m not yet where I want to be!
In 1 John 4:4 it says: “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them (struggles, habits, trials, addictions, sickness etc.), because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.“ (NIV) (Emphasis my own)
I often say that living a life with a big God equals a big life! It`s a truth that I have remarkably seen a lot of times in my life.
God is so much bigger, deeper, higher and wider than we ever can imagine, He is not limited to anything! What He has in store for us will be much more than we ever can dream of! And that`s why there is never-ending growth and change, as there will always be something bigger and better for us!
I love the endless possibilities with God that Paul describes in Ephesians 3:14-19:
“When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.“ (NLT) (Emphasis my own)
Live life to the fullest in the greatness of God and enjoy every season of being transformed and changed by the loving and gracious Father we have!
I hope I have inspired you in this blog to live life to the fullest in a way that goes beyond your imagination!
Live a life with an attitude that is bigger, deeper, higher, longer and wider – and you will see the endless possibilities that God has for you!
Be blessed
Nathanael
